More Quick Sketching workshops
Sunday, November 18 12 to 3 pm
I arrived at the SOMAR opening for the “Naked Ladies” exhibit, and was delighted to see my “Two Zaftig Rachels” hanging in an excellent spot. Femily and Christine from Femme Cartel were very enthusiastic about my work, and introduced me to a number of patrons who also showered the painting (and me) with praise.
If that wasn’t excitiing enough, I strolled through the “art Murmur” street fair, and stumbled upon a van that could ONLY be inhabited by Android Jones, creator of this Painter 12 signature artwork.
I am delighted to announce that my paintings are now available through Xanadu Gallery of Scottsdale, AZ. For now, the work is shown in an online “virtual studio”, but this could lead to my inclusion in the brick-and-mortar gallery. Rhoda will demonstrate quick sketch techniques suitable for beginners or intermediates who want to develop more confidence in drawing, as well as skilled artists who would like to “loosen up”. We’ll do some warm-ups, then go out as a group and sketch in nearby locations. Join Rhoda for a lively afternoon of sketching in the “wilds” of San Rafael. Rhoda has 40 years of experience drawing as fast as she can, specializing in gesture drawings of the human figure. She is a professional illustrator and caricature artist, and the author of numerous books on digital drawing and painting.

The selection committee at the Pacific Grove (CA) Art Center has accepted my submission and granted me a solo show in one of their galleries. The dates are May 31 to July 11, 2013
Oracle OpenWorld was an even better gig than the year before and the year before that. I had a few attendees who found me again after I drew them last year…one fellow who came back for his third year. Here are just a few of the caricatures I created as “booth babe” for BlitzMasters, a small woman-owned company based in Seattle. I have a feeling I’ll be doing more events with these folks.
Attention all who plan to attend the annual Oracle OpenWorld Expo at Moscone Center in San Francisco next week. I will be creating digital caricatures of attendees for a company called “Blitzmasters” at booth #3313. I’ll post some of my favorite drawings on these pages, after the show.
